Welcome and thanks for visiting my blog. Here I will be sharing with you some of my perspectives and thoughts on reason and religion. We will get into interesting talks on the topic of “clash of reason and religion.” From what I have experienced and know, these are two very important parts of civilizations. Religion in particular has gotten us into so much trouble. We cannot allow its destructive nature to hurt our future generations. Reason, not religion, should be in control.
I am for reason. I am not for religion because religion teaches a set of believes that are supposed to be upheld by people regardless of any consideration for the different times and situations. In the case of religion, if a large group of people believe in a thought, and they act upon it, an otherwise unwise act/solution might be undertaken. Let’s illustrate how this might happen. According to Islamic laws a man has the option of marrying up to four wives. Additionally, two women’s testimony is equal to one man’s testimony. If three eggs are to be inherited, a daughter will get on egg and the son will get two eggs. Imagine yourself in the place of one of those girls, how will you feel everyday?
It amazes me how much of our logic and reasoning can be compromised by some belief. A logical person’s perspective on the above cases is most likely as follows: one man can only marry one woman. One woman can only marry one man. One woman’s testimony is equal to one man’s testimony. A daughter inherits half of the left over and the son inherits the other half, unless the parent has identified otherwise.
It is simple as that.
Reasoning capability is the biggest asset of human kind, why not use it? I would love to hear your perspective on it. Do you see it as I do? Do you disagree?
